We went to Poppy’s for the very first time this week. We had a great server, Caidence. We ordered a Big Poppy burger and fries and a Club sandwich with sweet pepper cole slaw. Also, onion rings. All food was hot and delicious. They still use Southtown’s cole slaw and onion rings (fresh breaded, not frozen) recipes.

The place has great food our server was the bar tender at the time. She was very prompt and cleriflied things very well. Good spot to support. We ordered chicken salad and a burger. The portion was large and chicken was juicy. The place is very uppity just beware don't sit by doorway can be drafty. The price is cheaper then others and give you plenty of food for the price.

Hot beef was excellent. Onion rings were good too although they were a little cold as if they had been sitting for a bit. Going to ignore that though as the main course was excellent along with the service. The person in charge was very attentive to others in the dining area and even opened the door for me when I arrived. Will go back again for sure.

I wandered in here trying to walk to the casino after my ex girlfriends new boyfriend stole my god damn fish tank. I had the big poppy burger, it was excellent. The kitchen man Twan was extremely friendly. The bartender had pink hair that reminded me of my uncle Terry's steering wheel cover on that old ass Impala he swore he was gonna fix up one day. All in all, god bless Kid Rock, I will be back.

Stumbled on this place staying at hotel across the street. Love, love, love the broasted chicken. Peppered Cole slaw is perfect compliment. Great friendly staff. I showed up right at kitchen closing time and they still got me exactly what I was after. Feels like a local but very welcoming to visitors.

We decided to try Poppy's due to the proximity to our hotel. The food was good. The wings were awesome and arrived to the table hotter than the national chain usually does. The pizza crust was probably pre-made, but the sauce and toppings were very good. Lastly, the hand dipped onion rings were awesome. We were greeted by several people when we arrived. Everyone was very friendly.

We loved the sweet chilli wings! The only issue was our server kept putting in too many things, or the wrong thing! It wasn't too big of a deal though because we got the sweet chilli wings instead of the variety appetizer, and they were awesome. Will be back soon!

Nestled in the heart of Waterloo, Iowa, Poppy's Sports Pub offers a warm, welcoming retreat for anyone seeking hearty, satisfying fare paired with attentive, friendly service. From the moment you step inside at 2026 Bopp St, the atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy local charm and the lively buzz of a classic sports pub.

The menu is a testament to comfort food done right. The Big Poppy burger, a crowd favorite, stands out with its generous portions and juicy, well-grilled patty that leaves a lasting impression. Alongside, the club sandwich paired with the sweet pepper cole slaw offers a refreshing counterpoint, proving the kitchen's dedication to maintaining Southtown’s beloved recipes. The fresh-breaded onion rings, rather than frozen convenience, reinforce this commitment to quality and a genuine taste experience.

Poppy’s isn’t just about burgers and sides—those who venture into their broasted chicken find a crispy, flavorful dish that captures the essence of a true neighborhood staple. The large portions ensure you leave satisfied without stretching your wallet, making it a gem for both regulars and visitors alike.

Service here shines just as brightly as the food. Servers like Caidence and kitchen staff including the friendly Twan create an inviting environment where you feel truly valued. Attentiveness goes beyond the table—small gestures like opening the door upon arrival build a sense of community that complements the meal effortlessly.

While the ambiance is inviting, a small note for first-timers: seating near the doorway can be drafty. However, this minor detail hardly diminishes the overall experience, which consistently blends well-prepared dishes with genuine Midwestern hospitality. Whether you're stopping by for some broasted chicken, indulging in a burger, or simply gathering to watch the game, Poppy’s Sports Pub is a place that feels like your go-to local spot from the very first bite.
